GLP-1 Medications & Psilocybin: Important Considerations

Written by Tonya Laden

One of the ways GLP-1 receptor agonists, such as Ozempic work is by significantly slowing gut motility and the emptying of your stomach so you stay full longer and therefore, lose weight.

If you are interested in micro-dosing, or a bigger journey, be aware that GLP-1 medications may alter or interfere with psychedelic experiences. This is because converting psilocybin to its active form, psilocin, relies heavily on gut digestion, which is changed while taking GLP-1 medications.

This can lead to questions, "Do I require a much higher dose or am I not a candidate for mushrooms at all?" Neither are likely true, you just need a way to do both.

If you are taking GLP-1 medications try the Lemon-Tek method for ingesting mushrooms (See Lemon-tek guide on this app.) This option can be used for any dose and bypasses the gut. It involves soaking the mushrooms in citrus juice, allowing the citric acid to do all the work to pre-convert psilocybin into psilocin.

This can result in:

💪Stronger intensity
👍 Safe Dosing Ranges
⚡Faster onset (10–25 minutes)
⏰Shorter duration (3–5 hours)
😋Less nausea for Most People
